QbCon® - Continuous Manufacturing of Tablets

Continuous Manufacturing – Machines and Processes

Continuous Manufacturing for your daily production! The QbCon® continuous manufacturing line combines all necessary steps for the production from powder to coated tablets. Continuous dosing and mixing, various granulation processes, tableting as well as tablet coating takes place  in one single system with an integrated process control concept. The integration of PAT tools such as near-infrared (NIR) or Raman spectroscopy facilitates the inline monitoring of critical quality characteristics of intermediate products as well as the finished product. The integration of control algorithms enables continuous monitoring of the quality of the desired product and enhances product quality. Depending on the properties of the starting material and the desired properties of the final product, the QbCon® continuous production system enables the production via direct compression, dry granulation, or wet granulation.

BRC – Dry Granulator / Roller Compactor

The dry granulator BRC is predominantly used to produce large-volume or moisture-intensive products. The BRC enables high-production capacity with minimal loss of material. This is achieved by fast and precise control of the compaction force with a new electromechanical spindle drive for the two rollers. In combination with a sensitive control of the variable gap via the screw feeding system, constant ribbon properties are assured over a wide production range from <1kg up to 400kg/h.

Advantages

BCG - Twin-screw Granulator

The BCG twin-screw granulator and BCD continuous dryer are the decisive factors for truly continuous wet granulation and drying. Fully integrated into the QbCon® manufacturing line or as a stand-alone machine, the twin-screw granulator is the optimal machine for the introduction of continuous granulation.

Advantages

BCD – Continuous fluidized-bed dryer

The BCD is the perfect system for the truly continuous drying of granules. Successfully used in research and development as well as in the production of large quantities, the patented product filters guarantee operation for days. This means that the continuous granulation process does not have to be interrupted. The continuous fluidized-bed dryer is available in various sizes.

Advantages

KOCO® – Semi-Continuous Tablet Coater

Built on the industry proven design of all L.B. Bohle Coaters, the KOCO® semi-continuous coater guarantees best class and problem-free tablet coating. The KOCO® stands out with a reliable throughput while ensuring a constant residence time of all cores. Due to the design advantages of the coating pan, air duct and spray system, the KOCO® can repetitively execute the coating cycle, without affecting the process and product quality .
Advantages

QbCon® 1

The first step towards continuous manufacturing often takes place in research and development. With QbCon® 1, L.B. Bohle presents the optimal system for continuous wet granulation and drying. Space-saving and suitable for lowest throughput (nominal throughput: 0.5-2.5 kg/h), QbCon®1 meets all quality requirements of a pharmaceutical production, such as short residence time of the granules in the dryer with simultaneous narrow residence time distribution.
